A polygraph examination, as often referred polygraph test or incorrectly a lie detector test, is utilized often to assist in resolving issues whereby someone's honesty in a specific matter is being questioned.

Polygraph tests or examinations are today being used regularly by law enforcement, military, intelligence agencies, government and the legal community in numerous applications. Additionally, the polygraph is now being used more extensively in civil applications, including insurance and by private individuals.

Private/civil sector polygraph application would include:
                     Conflicting allegations and denials
                     Insurance claims
                     Business disputes
                     Infidelity - Marital issues
                     False allegations

Basically a polygraph test or examination may be found to be of value in any situation whereby an individual's truthfulness or honesty is being questioned.

With a competent and experienced examiner, a polygraph has often been shown to be a valuable investigative aide or tool.
